Bet365 Bookmaker Review

bet365 home

Bet365 actually begin life online from a portakabin back in 2000 and was the brainchild of Denise Coates, the daughter of Stoke City Football Club and Bet365 owner Peter Coates. Nowadays it is one of the biggest and most successful online bookmakers in the world, employing over 2000 people in the city of Stoke and having an amount of more than £10 billion worth of bets placed through it each year.

That is in no small part down to the fact that it is one of the most dynamic gambling companies around. Some of the online bookie services that we now consider standard were co-developed by Bet365, including things like live betting, cashing out and partial cash outs. They are continuously developing more ways of betting in an interesting and exciting way, which is great news for both the industry and their customers. That they have such impressive market depth also adds to their appeal.  They are my personal favourite online bookmaker.

Welcome Offer - 100% Depost Bonus Up To £200

Bet365’s welcome offer for new customers is impressive to say the least. They’ll match any deposit 100% up to £200. That means if you deposit at least £10 then you’ll get the same amount as bonus money to bet with on the sportsbook.

How To Claim

Deposit £10 or more into your newly opened account. You’ll then receive an email with a code, enter this code in the 'my account, bonus section' and receive a matched amount in bonus funds. That’s it. Do bear in mind, though, that you won’t get to use your bonus funds until you’ve actually bet with the money you deposited in the first place.

What Deposit Methods Are Valid For The Bonus?

At the time of writing there are no restrictions to deposit methods for the bonus, so you can put the money into your account via whichever method you prefer. Do keep an eye on the small print though, just in case that changes.

How The Bonus Works

You can bet with your bonus as soon as you've bet your deposit amount. You won’t be able to withdraw the bonus, or bonus winnings, until you have bets settled to the amount of three times your deposit and bonus funds (or 6x the bonus to think of it another way).  This may sound high but in actual fact this is one of the lowest bonus wagering requirements in the industry.

You need to reach that turnover requirement within ninety days of opening your account, which again is longer than most similar offers. It’s worth bearing in mind that if you place several bets on the same market then only your first bet will count towards the turnover requirement. Your bets must have odds at least 1/2 (1.50) or greater to qualify towards the rollover. You also need to use your code within seven days of making your deposit to claim the bonus.

Regular Bet365 Promotions

bet365 promo

Bet365 are one of the best bookies around when it comes to regular offers and promotions, so I’ll tell you about a number of my favourites now. I’ll start with their Price Promise on any horse races broadcast live on ITV or ITV4. That deal says that Bet365 will match any best price from one of their competitors such as Ladbrokes, William Hill,  Coral., etc.  That offer is for bets placed from 10am on the day of the race and it doesn’t include enhanced price offers.

There’s also a Best Odds Guaranteed offer. That offer is open to all races and is based on the idea that you place your bet and then the starting price ends up being bigger than the odds you took you’ll get any winnings paid out at the bigger price. For example, let’s say you put a bet on at 7/1 and the starting price ends up being 12/1, Bet365 will pay you out at 12/1. That’s a great way to get peace of mind regarding your racing odds in a competitive market.  Other bookies offer best odds guarantee for UK and Irish racing but Bet365 are one of the only betting sites to provide it on all racing.

Another of their offers also involves races on ITV and ITV4. That one says that if you place a bet on a horse with odds of 4/1 or greater on a horse race that is being shown live on ITV and it wins then Bet365 will give you a risk free bet of the same stake amount up to a value of £50 on the next live ITV race. The real joy of this one is that if your risk free bet is on a horse with odds of 4/1 or greater and this also wins then they’ll give you another risk free bet. On and on it will go until you actually own a horse.

If you’re not really into your horse racing then don’t worry, there are other offers you may be interested in. Have you ever placed a First Goal Scorer bet, for instance, only for the player you bet on to score second? Well Bet365 will pay you out at 1/3 of your odds if you’ve taken them up on their FGS each-way bet offer. Obviously not as good as actually winning the bet in the first place, but infinitely better than seeing your player score second or third instead of third.

There are also accumulator bonus offers on tennis, American sports and football that might tickle your fancy. The deal there is that if you place a pre-match accumulator with two legs or more on big tennis games or American sports you’ll get a bonus of up to 50%, depending on just how many legs you bet on.  Place a bet with three or more legs on football and get a bonus up to 100%. It certainly makes it a bit more tempting to go for that extra leg you’ve been contemplating!

The final offer I’ll tell you about here is the Sky dogs offer that is similar to the ITV 4/1+ deal. If you place a winning bet on a dog with odds of 2/1 or greater on a race shown live on Sky Sports then Bet365 will give you a risk free bet of the same stake up to £100 on the next race that will be shown live. If the free bets wins? Have another one. They’ll do that up to £500 per customer, per day.

Desktop Site

I actually really like the Bet365 website. It manages a tricky thing of simultaneously having loads going on but also have a clean and easy to follow interface; no mean feat when you look at some of the websites produced by the bookmakers competitors. On the left-hand side of the site there is a list of all of the different sports you can bet on, whilst the main page there’s a list of all of the live in-play events taking place at the time you’ve logged on.

They’ve also chosen some of the most interesting bets for the day and the most intriguing coupons that are popular at the time. Is there a general election coming up, for example? There’ll be a link straight to the bets for that. Same for if there’s a cup final or some international tournament just around the corner. One negative about the site used to be that it used Flash, and so was liable to crashing.  All those worries are now over as they upgraded to HTML5.

One negative is a lack of a search function, with a lot going on new users might make it hard to navigate to begin with.

Bet365 Mobile App

The mobile app does the same thing as the website, in the sense that it does a lot but does it in a way that’s easy to understand and use. There is a bar at the top that is full of shortcuts to sections of the app such as the sportsbook, in-play games and the casino. The sportsbook then has more shortcuts to the individual sports that you might want to place a bet on.

A scroll down the homepage of the app will take you to some of the most popular bets of the day, to the live games that are taking place at that moment and to the top coupons for the exact moment you’re on the app. Within each sport you’ll be presented with the current and next games that you might want to bet on. The app is quick, responsive and a pleasure to use. I like the website a lot but I prefer the app, which says plenty about it.

Live Betting

bet365 live

Bet365’s live betting section is the gold standard for the industry. It is intuitive, uncomplicated and really easy to use. It’s some compliment to the company that most of its competitors base their own live betting system on the one used by Bet365. Selecting an event will give you a list of possible bets alongside stats and info about it that will come in handy when you’re wondering what bet to place.

You can even create your own panel with the specific events you're interested in in order to keep an eye on what’s going on. In short, there’s not much wrong with it at all and Bet365 knows it. That’s why they’ll often have promotions encouraging people to use it. What I would say is that the mobile app isn’t quite as good for live betting as it’s harder to navigate to the bet you’ll want. Surely the point of live betting is that it’s really easy to get to the bet you want to place?

Live Streaming

There are loads of live streaming options through Bet365. Even more impressively, when you click on a live event’s in-play betting section the website tells you whether you can watch it streamed live. If you can’t then there’s a handy graphic that shows you what’s going on in the action at any one time during the game, especially if it’s a football match.

Apparently Bet365 live stream over 75,000 events a year, which makes them one of the biggest sports broadcasters around!

Markets and Odds

As one of the biggest bookmakers in the world it’s no surprise that Bet365’s market is impressive. There’s barely a sport that you’ll want to bet on that you won’t be able to here. There’s also plenty of depth to the specific sports you choose to bet on, with a major football event often offering more than 150 different lines.

Bet365 odds sometimes aren’t the best in the business, but they’re very competitive. Though you can’t always be guaranteed the top odds in the more random sports, they won’t be too far off so you can bet with a reasonable degree of confidence. Of course it’s worth having a look at different bookies if you’re determined to always get the best odds or you place huge wagers, but otherwise you’re pretty safe here.

There are no fees on any deposit method through Bet365, though there are different minimum deposit amounts. If you want to place your money in your account with debit or credit cards then you’ll have to put in a minimum of £5. The same is true of Skrill and a PaySafeCard. There’s a £10 minimum on deposits made with PayPal, Neteller and Entropay and £100 if you want to make a bank transfer.

Processing times (i.e. the time they take to approve your withdrawal) at Bet365 are the fastest in the business so if you want you money out fast this is the best option.  Bet365 also have some of the highest payout limits in the industry too.

Other Products

Bet365’s real selling point is its sportsbook, but that isn’t all it’s got to offer. Its poker games are impressive, as are the casino and Vegas section of the site. There’s also a bingo area, should you want to keep an eye out for two fat ladies, and you can even bet on the financial markets through Bet365 if you want to.

About Bet365

bet365Bet365 have more than 19 million customers. They are spread over nearly 200 hundred countries. It’s fair to surmise from that that they are one of the biggest online gambling companies around. They’re certainly the best company as far as Stoke-On-Trent is concerned, given that they’re the biggest employer in the city by some distance. That is because of their ties with Stoke City Football Club. Stoke’s chairman, Peter Coates, actually started up a series of on-street betting shops in the 1970s that his daughter, Denise Coates, borrowed against in order to start up Bet365 online at the turn of the millennium.

In 2010 at the eGaming Review Operator Awards Bet365 was awarded the Operator of the Year award, proving that they really know what they’re doing when it comes to their online betting operation. They have continuously worked to improve the live betting section of their site and the recent introduction of a vFabric private cloud means that latency to in-play bets has now been reduced to around two seconds. Incredibly impressive given the sheer volume of bets being placed at any one time.

The in-play betting system is without doubt one of the best in the industry and a real plus point for one of the finest betting sites around. The integration with their live streaming is also hugely impressive. The website and app are both perfectly functional if not the very best around, meaning that you can use them comfortably and not get too stressed trying to figure out where the bet is you want to place.

That their odds aren’t consistently the best in the land is a bit of a shame, though it will really only bother high-rollers or those that like to get the best odds possible out of principle. It’s also totally fair to point out that they do offer plenty of best odds guarantees for horse racing and so on. There’s also plenty going on with their website that makes it slightly difficult to get to grips with if you’re looking for a specific bet.

Licence & Contact Details

Bet365 are registered in Gibraltar for tax purposes, although they still employ shed loads of people in the UK and run all their customer support from Stoke so they are still miles better than other so called 'British' bookies.  They hold a UK gambling licence so you’re as good as guaranteed that the company practices its work within the stringent guidelines laid out by the UK gambling commission. If you’re interested then I’ll tell you that their licence number is 39563.

When it comes to customer support they are reachable in all of the usual ways. Bet365 have a good Twitter account that helps you with any problems you’re having with your betting and will even give you odds on things if you ask them nicely. Their Facebook account is also good but not quite so interactive with people. If you have issues you can call them or live chat with them and in my experience they sort things for you really quickly.

As you may have guessed from what I’ve said elsewhere, their customer services team is based in Stoke. Here is the contact address:

Customer Services Address: Bet365, Hillside, Festival Way, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, ST1 5SH.
